In this day and age it is wise to store up for a rainy day. I will be adding recipes and tips on canning and food preservation. I hope you are blessed!
Why Can?
God tells us to save for a rainy day. To store for the future.. I'm not talking about storing up in fear but to have for a time in need is wise.
How? it's not difficult. Even in a small storage problems, it can be done. Find ways to combine and store in air tight bags such as food savers and ziplocks for smaller things, big bins for larger items. Be sure to be air tight to save your investment.
Materials Needed
1 large water bath or canning pot
jars with mason lids and waxed caps
tongs
funnel
Here's a recipe for jam to get ya started!
2 quarts strawberries
1 package powdered pectin
1/3 cup lemon juice
7 cups sugar
Wash and crush strawberries. Combine strawberries, pectin and lemon ju9ice in a large saucepot. Bring to rolling boil, stirring occasionally. Add sugar, stirring til dissolved. Return to a rolling boil. Boil hard for one minute. Remove from heat and skim off foam if necessary. Ladle hot jam into hot jars ( have your jars in another large pot of hot but not boiling water while you are cooking jam) Place in an already boiling water bath and ‘process’ for 10 minutes. Yields about 8 half pints.
